I had a wonderful stay at the JW Marriott Venice. The location is stunning, and the shuttle service to the city is incredibly convenient. The resort facilities are top-notch, especially the rooftop pool which offers breathtaking views. I was also very impressed with the childcare services, which allowed us to relax knowing our kids were in great hands. Highly recommended!
Was fantastic out of the busy city yet a quick ride on the free ferry

Seasonal guide to help you plan the perfect trip to in Venice
Fall
April–October (peak crowds and highest prices, with many festivals and good weather).
November–February (lower hotel rates and fewer tourists, but colder, wetter and risk of floods; exceptions: Carnival and some winter events when prices rise).
March–May: Temperatures usually range from cool to warm. Flowering canals and comfortable daytime weather make walking enjoyable; late spring sees growing crowds and many cultural events.
A world-famous festival of masks, costumes, parades and street performances. Dates vary (usually in January–February, ending on Shrove Tuesday).
Major international art and architecture exhibitions held at the Giardini and Arsenale. Art Biennale runs May–November in odd-numbered years; Architecture Biennale runs in even-numbered years on a similar schedule.
One of the world’s oldest film festivals, held on the Lido. Typically late August–early September.
A popular July celebration featuring a temporary bridge to the Church of the Redentore and spectacular fireworks over the lagoon.
Historic boat parade and competitive rowing races held on the Grand Canal, typically the first Sunday of September.
Venice is humid year-round. Pack layers for spring/fall, breathable fabrics and sun protection for summer, and warm waterproof clothing for winter. Keep a compact umbrella and waterproof shoe covers or rubber boots for acqua alta season. Check tide forecasts (alla marea) and the municipality’s acqua alta alerts when traveling in autumn and winter.
Venice's hotel and service prices spike sharply during major events (Carnival, Biennale, Film Festival) and during the warm tourist season. Small, centrally located hotels and rooms near San Marco and Rialto are the most expensive. Booking 2–3 months in advance for spring/fall and 6+ months for Carnival or Biennale will secure better rates. Weekday vs weekend differences are modest, but long weekends and Italian holidays push prices up. Food prices are high in heavily touristed areas; seek out bacari and neighborhoods away from the main squares for better value.
Insider advice to help you make the most of your visit
Venice is pedestrian-first; waterways are the ‘roads’. Vaporetti (water buses) and water taxis are the main paid public transport, while gondolas are mostly for sightseeing.
Wake early—St. Mark’s Square and the Rialto Bridge are far more atmospheric before the day-trippers arrive. Use early mornings for photos and to enjoy quieter canals; spend afternoons exploring lesser-known sestieri (Cannaregio, Castello, Dorsoduro) for authentic dining and local life.
