If traveling to islands or scheduling Hashima (Gunkanjima) tours, monitor weather closely — tours are often canceled in rough seas.
Nagasaki's hotel and transport prices vary with seasons and local events. Peak demand comes during spring cherry blossom season and national holidays (Golden Week), during Kunchi in October, and around the Lantern Festival (Lunar New Year) in late January–February. Summer (July–August) includes Obon and some fireworks events which can raise short-term rates. Winter generally offers the best value except for New Year holidays and festival weekends. Advance booking (especially for Hashima/Gunkanjima tours and Kunchi dates) secures better rates.
