Wonderful hotel in a very good location, close to shopping and Kyoto train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast box ( because of early tour, and no time for included breakfast ) was absolutely delicious.
From the moment of our arrival I knew our stay would be top tier. The hotel is new, modern and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and spoke very good english. The rooms were modern, spacious, clean and had lots of natural light. The amenities in the hotel were great.

Seasonal guide to help you plan the perfect trip to in Kyoto
Fall
Cherry blossom period and autumn foliage peak (late March–early April; late October–November) plus Gion Matsuri week in July and Golden Week.
Mid-January through February (after New Year) and early December (before holiday crowds) generally offer the best value for hotels and flights.
March–May. Cherry blossoms bloom from late March to early April (varies year-to-year), and the weather warms with comfortable days and cool nights.
Late March–early April (varies by year). Widespread sakura viewing at Maruyama Park, Philosopher's Path, Kiyomizu-dera, and along the Kamo River.
May (main events typically May 15). One of Kyoto's three major festivals, featuring a historic procession from the Imperial Palace to Shimogamo and Kamigamo Shrines.
July (month-long with main floats parades mid- to late July). Kyoto's most famous festival with grand float processions, street food, and events across the city.
Mid-August. A traditional Buddhist festival when many locals return to ancestral homes—expect both solemn shrine rituals and festive dances.
October (main parade October 22). A historical festival celebrating Kyoto's past with a large procession of participants in period costumes.
Mid-October–November. Many temples and gardens stage special viewing hours and illuminations to showcase fall colors.
Late December–early January. Major religious and family observances, temple and shrine visits for hatsumode (first shrine visit of the year).
Kyoto has a humid subtropical climate: expect a rainy season in June (tsuyu), hot humid summers with possible typhoons in July–September, comfortable springs and autumns, and cool, clear winters with occasional snow. Packing tips: in spring bring light layers and a waterproof jacket for occasional rain; summer requires breathable clothing, sun protection, and a refillable water bottle; fall means layers and a light jacket for evenings; winter needs a warm coat, gloves, and sturdy shoes. Carry a compact umbrella year-round. Check typhoon forecasts if traveling late summer/early fall and allow flexible scheduling.
Kyoto's accommodation prices fluctuate strongly with seasonal attractions and national holidays. Peak price windows include Cherry Blossom season (late March–early April), Golden Week (late April–early May), Gion Matsuri in July, and the autumn foliage peak (late October–November). Prices also rise around New Year. Mid-January through February (excluding New Year) is typically the cheapest time to find lower hotel rates and better deals. Weekend rates are higher than weekday rates, and last-minute bookings during peak periods can be expensive. Smaller ryokans and boutique machiya can command premium rates during peak windows despite limited inventory. Booking 2–4 months ahead for popular seasons (or 6+ months for premium properties/ryokan) is recommended. Staying a short train ride outside central Kyoto (e.g., Uji, Nara suburbs, or Osaka) can reduce lodging costs while keeping good access.
Insider advice to help you make the most of your visit
Kyoto is best navigated by a mix of trains, subways, buses, walking, and cycling. Many major temples are accessible by bus; for regional travel use JR lines and limited express trains.
Visit popular temples early in the morning (before 8:30) or late afternoon to avoid peak crowds, and prioritize lesser-known sites (e.g., Otagi Nenbutsu-ji, Gio-ji, Daitoku-ji sub-temples) for a quieter, more local experience. Book accommodation and restaurant reservations well in advance for Cherry Blossom and Autumn foliage seasons.
