Every single staff member was exceptional. Especially Jayla at the front desk when we checked in, She was awesome!!
We were really satisfied with this hotel. The proximity to the train (BART) was excellent and there were some nice little restaurants within walking distance. The free happy hour was nice (we were usually not there during the time it ran but we caught it one time and it was a nice bonus to the stay). The staff at the front desk were all great - pleasant, helpful, responsive. I don't know if they are understaffed with cleaning staff but our room wasn't ready when we arrived around 5pm (but they put us in another room that was the same so it was not an issue) - they had said they'd had a full house the night before so perhaps it was just a one off - but over three nights we didn't have anyone come to clean our room as part of the hotel service and when we did ask for some fresh towels they came in and folded up the towels that had already been used - so that was weird. The restaurant staff were nice. When we arrive the shower/tub was not draining and the toilet wouldn't flush - but once we mentioned it to the front desk they had someone come up almost immediately and he fixed both very quickly). Breakfast was awesome...the 'made to order' counter was a great feature and the staff working there were friendly, funny and awesome!

Walnut Creek has a Mediterranean climate: dry summers and wet winters. Expect warm, sun-filled days in summer and mild, wetter conditions in winter. Because of Bay Area microclimates, temperatures can shift quickly — mornings/evenings are often several degrees cooler than midday. Bring layered clothing (light jacket, sun hat, sunscreen), comfortable hiking shoes for Mount Diablo, and check the air quality index during late summer and fall for wildfire smoke. In case of rain, downtown remains walkable and many attractions are indoors.
Walnut Creek sits between San Francisco and the suburbs of Contra Costa County, so hotel rates vary with both leisure and corporate demand. Weekends (Friday–Sunday) and holiday weekends—especially around the downtown Art & Wine Festival and summer holidays—are the most expensive. Weekday business travel can push midweek rates up modestly, particularly near the BART station and business parks. Expect peak nightly rates in late spring through early fall. Value season is typically winter (excluding holiday weeks) when rain and cooler weather reduce leisure traffic. Boutique hotels and well-located chain hotels command premiums; budget options are limited, so book early for events or weekend trips. Short-term rentals (Airbnb/vrbo) are common and can offer value for groups or longer stays.
