Lovely grounds, beautiful pool areas with 2 separate pools away from the large main kid-friendly one. Very friendly staff; tasty food at Holoholo Grill. Preordered a few groceries to be in the room which was helpful. Nice size gym.
Absolutely beautiful resort. Upon checking in, we were awestruck just from the view of the lobby. The pool is outstanding but the main pool is typically very busy. The room was great. Parking was free and easy. And great location. Cold flavored water and tea in the lobby each day and water machines in the gym and pool area for easy filling. In the morning there is also coffee and tea in the lobby.

Seasonal guide to help you plan the perfect trip to in Koloa
Summer
Winter (peak holiday weeks) and Summer (school holidays).
Spring (March–May) and Fall (September–November) outside of holiday/event weekends.
March–May: Shoulder season after winter holidays and before summer crowds. Weather is generally warm with occasional showers; ocean conditions are good for snorkeling and boating.
A long-running local festival celebrating the area’s plantation history, often held in late summer or early fall (dates vary by year).
Annual road races typically held in the fall (often September). They draw runners island-wide and bring increased visitors to the south shore area.
Major travel spike across Kauai and Hawai‘i with many resorts offering special events and holiday menus; expect the highest occupancy and rates.
Kaua‘i has microclimates—Koloa/Poipu on the south shore is typically drier and sunnier than the lush north shore. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a light rain jacket for quick showers, and a small daypack for hikes. Check surf and ocean-condition reports before swimming; rip currents and changing surf are seasonal. If hiking Waimea Canyon or trails into the interior, expect cooler temperatures and possibly muddy conditions in winter months—sturdy footwear recommended.
Koloa (Poipu area) on Kauai experiences clear seasonal pricing. Peak demand is during the U.S. winter holidays (mid-December through early January) and the broader winter season when visitors from colder climates seek Hawaiian warmth; summer (June–August) is also busy with families. Major holidays and local events push rates higher, and limited hotel/resort inventory on Kauai means prices rise quickly when flights are also constrained. Value/shoulder periods (spring—March to May except Easter week—and fall—September to November except major event weekends) often have the best deals. Booking 3–6 months in advance will often secure good rates; for holiday travel, book 6–12 months ahead. Short-notice travel (within 30 days) frequently faces high nightly rates and limited availability.
Insider advice to help you make the most of your visit
A rental car is strongly recommended for Koloa to access beaches, hikes, and neighbors towns; public transit is limited and taxis/Ubers can be expensive and scarce.
Plan tours (Nā Pali boat or heli flights, guided hikes, popular snorkeling trips) at least 4–8 weeks in advance during shoulder seasons and 2–4 months for peak winter/summer dates; when possible, schedule active outdoor excursions for mornings when conditions are calmer and air quality is clearer.
