Location, staff, value
Location really suited our family of 4 (two teenage boys), close to both Chinatown and Little Italy so eating options aplenty! We had the 4 x bed quad room and the high ceilings made the room feel more spacious than I was expecting. Staff were really engaging and anticipated our every need. I’d highly recommend the Moxy LES!

A lively celebration in June with parades, parties, and community events centered around Manhattan and Greenwich Village.
Biannual Fashion Weeks (February and September) and rotating industry conventions can create localized spikes in demand for hotels and restaurants.
Layering is essential year-round: lightweight layers and a rain jacket for Spring; breathable fabrics and sun protection for Summer; a warm jacket with layers for Fall; and insulated, windproof outerwear, waterproof boots, hat, and gloves for Winter. Check forecast before heading out—snow or heat waves can change plans quickly.
New York City hotel prices vary significantly by season, neighborhood, and major events. The busiest price spikes occur around late December (holiday season and New Year’s Eve), late November (Thanksgiving week), early September (UN General Assembly and Fashion Week), and major events such as the NYC Marathon and Pride Weekend. Summer (June–August) is consistently high because of tourist demand. Value periods are typically January and February (after the holidays) and some mid-week stays in late winter and early spring. Rates also rise sharply on weekends in Manhattan and during major conventions and holidays. Booking 30–90 days ahead is usually best for mid-range hotels; for high-demand events, reserve 3–6 months in advance. Consider staying in outer boroughs (Brooklyn, Queens) or near transit hubs to find better nightly rates while accepting a slightly longer commute.
Insider advice to help you make the most of your visit
Public transit (subway and buses) is the most efficient way to get around Manhattan and many parts of the outer boroughs; rideshares and taxis are convenient for late-night or direct trips.
Book popular attractions (Broadway shows, observatory tickets, museum special exhibitions) and restaurant reservations in advance. Stay flexible with neighborhood choices—Brooklyn (Williamsburg, DUMBO), Queens (Long Island City), and northern Manhattan offer value and quick transit access. Use apps for transit alerts and consider off-peak sightseeing (early mornings or weekdays) to avoid crowds.
