Rated Very good by our guests
Analyze the best time to book The Ambassador Hotel of Waikiki, Tapestry Collection by Hilton in in Honolulu based on 12-month price forecast
The hotel is located at a very convenient location close to the beginning (or end) of the Waikiki shopping street and within walking distance of the beach. The hotel is clean, the beds are very good, staff is very relaxed, the elevators fast (useful for a 30+ storey building in the morning), staff is friendly and breakfast was superb. You have an included 'a la carte', meaning you can choose either one big menu item or 2 smaller. But freshly made instead of a buffet where everything is already sitting there for an hour in the bowls. The Acai bowl and French toast were our favorites. You can also get as many fresh water bottles every day from the lobby. The bathroom is also very clean and has a great shower.

Seasonal guide to help you plan the perfect trip to in Honolulu
Winter
Winter holidays (mid-December to early January) and summer (June–August) are the busiest and most expensive times.
Late Spring (April–early June) and early Fall (September–October) often offer the best deals and good weather.
March through May: Spring brings warm, comfortable temperatures (highs around mid-70s to mid-80s°F / 24–29°C) and lower crowds after the winter peak and before summer vacationers arrive. Honolulu Festival in March and Lei Day/Prince Lot Hula Festival in May add cultural events. This is a great shoulder season for sightseeing, snorkeling, and hiking.
One of the world’s largest marathons, held in December. It draws international runners and significantly increases hotel and flight demand during the race week.
A statewide celebration with cultural events in Honolulu in September, including parades, hula performances, and street parties.
Held in March, this festival celebrates Pacific Rim cultures with parades, performances, and a marketplace featuring artists from Hawaii and Asia-Pacific.
Major surf competitions and big-wave season run from November through February on Oahu’s North Shore. While events are concentrated in late fall/early winter, big waves can occur throughout winter.
Lei Day (May 1) is a statewide celebration of Hawaiian culture; the Prince Lot Hula Festival (usually in May) features hula competitions and cultural demonstrations in public gardens.
A solemn memorial event on Memorial Day weekend where participants float lanterns on the water at Ala Moana Beach Park to honor loved ones.
Pack light, breathable clothing, reef-safe sunscreen, a light rain jacket for brief showers (especially during winter/north shore storms), reef shoes for rocky shorelines, and a hat. Expect warm, sunny days almost year-round; bring layers for cooler evenings in winter and modest rain protection on occasion. If visiting during big-wave season, respect beach warning signs and avoid entering the water at exposed north-facing beaches.
Honolulu is Honolulu's hotel and travel pricing reflects strong seasonality driven by mainland U.S. and international holiday travel, major events, and surf season. Prices peak during the high season (typically winter holidays and summer) when demand from U.S. mainland visitors is highest, and when international flights are plentiful. Room rates and airfares rise further around major events (e.g., Honolulu Marathon, Aloha Festivals) and during major surf competitions on the North Shore. Value-season windows are usually late spring (after spring break) and early fall (after summer but before the holidays) when fewer families travel and business is limited. Advance booking (60–120 days) for peak windows often secures better rates; last-minute deals can appear in shoulder months. Consider alternative lodging in neighborhoods outside Waikiki (Kakaʻako, Ala Moana, the Leeward Coast or East Oahu) for lower rates and a more local feel. Rental car supply can tighten and inflate prices during peak surf and holiday windows, so book early or use public transit/Uber in Waikiki to save money.
Insider advice to help you make the most of your visit
Getting around Honolulu is easiest by a mix of public transit, ride-hail, shuttles, and walking in central areas. Rental cars are useful for exploring Oahu beyond Waikiki but can be costly/limited during peak times.
Rent snorkel gear locally for multiple-day use instead of relying on single-visit rentals; arrive at popular beaches early (before 8 AM) to secure parking and quieter snorkeling spots. Also, favor weekday visits to popular attractions to avoid weekend crowd surges.
