One of the best properties to stay at. The staff was excellent—daily they treated us like family and always suggested where we could go. One lady (I forgot her name) was always everywhere, saying hello and helping us. She was very welcoming. Breakfast was also great, with many options like noodles, pasta, cakes, dumplings, and juices. The coffee was very good too. The staff was always happy to tell you about any dish if you wanted to know. The room was fantastic—spacious, clean, and comfortable. The best part was that during our stay, the tea set was free, and they even provided fruits as a welcome gesture. Honestly, I can’t praise the staff enough. The location was also good—not right in the center, but still close enough to reach within about 10 minutes by cab. They also offer a free shuttle every hour.
Location, the views, the hotel staff - everything about the hotel was perfect.

Fall
Fall (Sep-Nov) and Spring (Mar-Apr), plus dates around Tet (Lunar New Year) and major local festivals.
Summer (Jun-Aug) — due to heavy rains and clouds — and Winter weekdays (Dec-Feb) outside holiday weeks.
February–April: Temperatures begin to warm after winter, many flowers bloom and hill-tribe communities celebrate New Year-related activities (Tet season timing varies by lunar calendar). Trails are becoming drier and views improve, though early February can still be chilly and foggy.
The most important holiday in Vietnam; timing varies each year according to the lunar calendar (usually in late January–February). Sapa’s local communities observe traditional customs and many businesses close for celebrations.
Weekly markets in the region where ethnic minority groups gather to trade goods, socialize, and sell handicrafts. Examples include Bac Ha (primarily Sunday), Can Cau (often Saturday) and Coc Ly (often Tuesday) — schedules can change, so check locally.
Local, informal celebrations and harvest activities typically occur during the rice harvest (mainly September–October). Villages may host small festivities tied to the harvest calendar.
Pack layered clothing (base layer + insulating layer + waterproof shell). Bring a lightweight down or warm fleece for cold mornings and evenings, a good waterproof jacket and quick-dry trekking clothes. Sturdy, waterproof hiking shoes are essential, especially in the monsoon. Carry sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses for sunny days, and a rain cover for backpacks. Keep a small first-aid kit and blister care for hiking.
Sapa's accommodation and transport prices vary significantly by season and local events. Peak demand during clear-sky trekking windows (especially Autumn and Spring) and around Lunar New Year (Tet) pushes hotel rates and guided-trek prices up — expect 20–60% higher rates on weekends, festival dates, and after major holidays. Conversely, the rainy summer months and cold winter weekdays often bring discounts, last-minute deals and lower group-tour prices. Luxury and mid-range hotels hold steady in price but fill up fast during peak season; guesthouses and homestays are cheapest in the monsoon months but may have limited services.
Insider advice to help you make the most of your visit
Most travelers reach Sapa from Hanoi via overnight train to Lao Cai plus a short bus/van transfer or by direct sleeper bus/car. Local transport includes motorbike taxis, shared minibuses and licensed taxis.
For the best photos and light, plan early-morning hikes to ridge viewpoints and time visits to the rice terraces around harvest (Sept–Oct) or the green-peak midsummer (Jun–Jul). Hire a local guide for off-the-beaten-path trails, bring cash (many villages have no ATM), and keep flexible plans during the monsoon when weather can close roads.
