We had a fantastic experience!!! The view from the swimming pool was great. We also had an amazing snorkeling experience. Staff were very friendly and organised. Staff at the pool and at the snorkeling spot with the equipment had the guest list as we arrived and helped us out before we even checked in. They found a charging cable we accidentally left behind in the room as they were cleaning the room for the next guest. They came and found us, as we were waiting for our transport back to the pier. Food was decent. We had pretty low expectations given some of the other reviews... We tried the a la carte menu for lunch after we arrived, and ended up getting dinner and another lunch there. Breakfast buffet included in the room booking had a very good selection and was a highlight.

Seasonal guide to help you plan the perfect trip to in Ko Racha Yai
Winter
November–April (dry, sunny, busiest)
May–October (wet season, lower prices)
March–May: Hot, with temperatures often 30–35°C (86–95°F). March can be dry and pleasant; April is very hot and is when Songkran (Thai New Year) occurs, with lively water festivals and heavy domestic travel. May marks the transition toward the monsoon.
Mid-April nationwide celebration with water fights, traditional ceremonies, and increased domestic travel.
Usually in September or October (depends on lunar calendar). A colorful Taoist festival known for processions, shrines, and some extreme rituals held primarily in Phuket Town.
Late November often features Loy Krathong celebrations (floating lanterns/prayers) across Thailand; Phuket may have local events, though Chiang Mai is the main hub.
Weekly night market in Phuket Old Town every Sunday evening — cultural foods, crafts, street performances, and Sino-Portuguese architecture.
Expect hot, humid weather most of the year. November–April brings the most reliable sun and calm seas; May–October brings the monsoon with heavy but often short-lived rain and rough sea conditions. Always check ferry and tour cancellations during the wettest months and pack lightweight rain gear, reef-safe sunscreen, and insect repellent.
Phuket hotel prices peak during the high season (November–April) and around major events and holidays (e.g., New Year, Chinese New Year, Songkran in April). Prices drop in the low season (May–October) when the southwest monsoon brings heavier rains; you can find discounts of 30–60% on accommodations and packages then. Flight fares mirror this pattern, with highest demand and fares mid-December to January and slightly lower but still elevated in February–March. Luxury resorts and beachfront properties retain higher baseline prices year-round but still offer value deals in the wet season. Booking 2–3 months ahead for high season and 1–4 weeks for low season is common; for major events or international holidays, book 4–6 months in advance.
Insider advice to help you make the most of your visit
Getting around Phuket: mix of taxis, Grab (ride-hail app), tuk-tuks, motorbike rentals, and songthaews/minibuses. Car rentals available but traffic and parking vary by area.
If you want the best combination of weather and value, plan to visit in late November or early December: the rains have usually ended, crowds are smaller than peak December holidays, and many hotels offer early-season promotions.
