We stayed at Janevalla Bandung for our honeymoon, and it was absolutely wonderful. The hotel went above and beyond to make our stay special – our room was beautifully decorated for the occasion, with writing on the mirror and a lovely surprise that made us feel truly welcomed. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Adit at the reception, who greeted us so warmly and even informed us via WhatsApp when our room was ready. The breakfast offered a huge variety of choices, and everything we tried was delicious. We also loved the rooftop bar – it wasn’t very crowded during our visit, but the service and food there were excellent. And of course, the pool with its view over the city was another highlight. Overall, it was the perfect start to our honeymoon, and we can highly recommend Janevalla Bandung to anyone visiting the city!

Seasonal guide to help you plan the perfect trip to in Bandung
Summer
June–August (dry season, school holidays) and long holiday weekends (Eid al-Fitr, Christmas/New Year)
September–November and March–April (shoulder months), except during movable holidays like Eid
March–May: Transition from the wet season into the drier months. Temperatures moderate and mornings can be misty, with occasional showers early in the season.
Typically held in May: a multi-day festival celebrating design, fashion, music, and innovation from local creators and young designers.
Often in April: events and exhibitions commemorating the 1955 Bandung Conference with cultural performances, exhibitions, and public talks.
Various dates, often aligning with city anniversaries or cultural weeks (commonly in September–October): street festivals along Braga and nearby heritage areas.
Bandung sits at about 700–800 meters above sea level, so temperatures are cooler than Jakarta—bring light layers and a windbreaker. In the wet season (roughly October–April), carry a waterproof jacket, quick-dry clothing, and waterproof footwear for muddy trails. For clear-view photography at sunrise, aim for the dry months (June–August). Always check short-term forecasts for mountain excursions (Tangkuban Perahu, Kawah Putih) because volcanic gas and cloud cover can close viewpoints without much notice.
Bandung’s hotel and activity prices fluctuate with Indonesian holiday cycles, weekend getaways from Jakarta, and popular local events. Weekends (Friday–Sunday) are consistently more expensive because many Jakartans travel up for a short break. High demand months include June–August (school holidays), late December–early January (year-end), and holiday periods tied to Eid al-Fitr (dates vary each year). Event-driven spikes occur for festivals and creative weeks. Shoulder months (September–November and March–April) often offer the best value, though check local holiday calendars—Eid can fall in these windows and temporarily raise prices. Booking mid-week stays, reserving a few weeks in advance for weekends, and using local apps for last-minute deals (e.g., hotel promos) will yield better rates. For day trips to Lembang, Ciwidey, or Kawah Putih, consider hiring a driver for the day rather than booking packaged tours during peak weekends to save money.
Insider advice to help you make the most of your visit
Getting around Bandung is easiest with ride-hailing apps, local taxis, or a hired driver for day trips. Traffic can be heavy on weekends and holidays.
Book weekend stays well in advance and consider midweek stays for better rates. For efficient sightseeing, base yourself in Dago or Braga for city cafés and heritage walks, or in Lembang for easier access to mountain attractions. Hire a local driver for full-day excursions—it often costs only slightly more than multiple one-way transfers and saves time.
