Fall
Spring and Fall (warmer days, cool nights — more tourists and higher prices).
Summer and Winter (hot summers and cold/wet winters — fewer tourists, lower prices).
March to May — daytime temperatures typically 18–30°C (65–85°F), nights cooler. Wildflowers bloom in some areas after winter rains and the weather is ideal for jeep tours, rock climbing, hiking, and overnight desert camps.
Regular nightly or weekly gatherings hosted by local Bedouin camps and guides to share music, storytelling, food, and traditional hospitality.
National holidays (like Independence Day on November 25) and religious holidays (Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha) drive domestic travel; small local celebrations and increased bookings occur.
From time to time Wadi Rum hosts endurance events, trail runs, or ultra-marathons and international adventure gatherings. Dates vary — check event organizers for current year schedules.
Always bring layered clothing: a lightweight, breathable base for daytime, warmer mid-layers for evenings and mornings, and a windproof outer shell. Sun protection (broad-brim hat, sunglasses, SPF 30+ sunscreen) and plenty of water are essential year-round. Nights in the desert can be much colder than daytime temperatures, especially in Winter. Check short-term weather forecasts before multi-day treks and confirm road conditions after heavy rain.
Wadi Rum (قرية وادي رم) prices fluctuate with visitor seasons and local events. The busiest periods are Spring and Fall when temperatures are mild; expect accommodation and tour prices to increase by roughly 20–50% compared with low season. Luxury desert camps and private guided jeep/rock-climbing packages see the highest surges. Summer (hot months) and Winter (cold nights + occasional rain) tend to be value seasons: basic camps and group tours often drop 10–30% and operators may offer last-minute discounts. Prices also spike around Jordanian national holidays and religious holidays (Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha) when domestic travel rises. Bookings for popular camps, stargazing experiences, and multi-day jeep or trekking itineraries are recommended 4–8 weeks ahead in high season and 1–3 weeks ahead in low season; for large groups or luxury camps book several months out.

Access to Wadi Rum village is usually via car or shuttle from Aqaba, Petra, or Amman; once there, guided 4x4s, camels, and walking are the main local transport options.
Book a 1–2 night stay in a desert camp with a local Bedouin guide that includes an evening cultural program and sunrise activity (short hike or jeep to a viewpoint). For photography, plan shoots for golden hour and stargazing—bring a tripod and a headlamp with red-light mode to preserve night vision.
