From my arrival to the time of my departure 12 days later i was treated with the utmost kindness, friendliness and care. Yousef was fantastic as my main point of contact and support for all of my holiday ( experiences ) and personal needs as well as becoming a friend too. The drivers and guides he arranged for me gave me wonderful days of information and experiences, all done with courtesy, kindness, a smile and enjoyable conversation. The staff were incredibly patient, helpful, fun, polite, generous of spirit and always willing to assist in any way they could. I formed many friendships with staff whilst there which wont be forgotten and which made my trip and experience so much more than i hoped for.

Seasonal guide to help you plan the perfect trip to in Cairo
Fall
Religious/pilgrimage season and major festivals (dates vary annually)
Summer (when daytime heat reduces leisure travel), and Winter excluding holiday windows
March–May. Temperatures warm from mild to hot; desert blooms in surrounding areas after any winter rains. Days are usually comfortable for walking and sightseeing, with cooler mornings and evenings.
A month-long religious observance whose timing shifts about 11 days earlier each Gregorian year. Daily life, opening hours and the pace of the city change drastically—many daytime restaurants close, and evenings become the social peak.
Festival marking the end of Ramadan. Dates vary each year and follow Ramadan's conclusion. It is a major public holiday with family gatherings, prayers and celebrations.
A significant religious holiday often accompanied by large-scale pilgrimages and increased travel. Timing shifts each year according to the lunar calendar; during peak pilgrimage years the city experiences its busiest periods.
Country-specific national celebrations and annual cultural festivals (dates fixed to the national calendar). These bring parades, concerts, and market fairs in the city.
Al Haram has a predominantly arid climate. Core advice: stay hydrated, wear sun protection (wide-brim hat, high-SPF sunscreen), prefer breathable light clothing in heat and layers for cool nights. For desert excursions, carry extra water, a head covering and a basic first-aid kit for heat-related issues. Check forecast for sudden sand/dust storms and adjust outdoor plans accordingly.
Al Haram's hotel and travel prices are highly event-driven. Prices spike sharply during religious observances (especially major pilgrimages, Ramadan evenings and Eid periods) and national holidays. Outside event windows, prices follow a seasonal pattern: winter and spring shoulder seasons often offer mid-range rates, while summer can be the cheapest for leisure travel due to extreme heat—except when a moving pilgrimage or festival falls into those months. Book 2–6 months ahead for major events; last-minute deals occasionally appear in high heat months. Airfare follows a similar pattern: expect marked increases during pilgrimage windows and national holidays.
Insider advice to help you make the most of your visit
Getting around combines public transit in urban centers, taxis/rideshares for convenience, and organized shuttles for major religious sites. Walking is practical in compact districts but limited by heat.
Book accommodations near public transport or official shuttle routes during event seasons, arrive early to major sites to avoid the crush, and plan daily activities for mornings and late evenings in hot months. For flexible travel, keep a local SIM or eSIM for real-time updates on transport and event scheduling.
