Seasonal guide to help you plan the perfect trip to in Cairo
Fall
October–April (cooler months) typically see higher tourist demand
June–August (Summer) often has lower international tourist demand and more deals
March–May: mild to warm temperatures, blossoming greenery in parks, comfortable days and cooler evenings — ideal for walking and outdoor markets.
Ramadan is a month-long Islamic observance with fasting by day and social evenings. Timings vary each year (lunar calendar). Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan; Eid al-Adha is another major holiday.
An Egyptian spring festival celebrated nationally with picnics, visits to parks and traditional foods like salted fish and fava beans.
Major cultural event in greater Cairo (usually November) with screenings, industry guests and satellite events across the city.
Official public holidays lead to parades, closures, or special programming depending on the occasion.
Neighborhood markets are active year-round; some neighborhoods have peak market days or seasonal produce markets where locals shop.
Bring light, breathable clothing for hot months, a sun hat and sunscreen year-round, and a warm layer for winter evenings. Always carry bottled water, and plan outdoor activities for early morning or late afternoon in Summer. Be prepared for occasional dust/sand and short rain showers in Winter.
Al-Mariyutiya follows the broader Cairo/Giza pricing patterns. Hotel rates and short-term rentals spike during the cool tourist months and around major events (national holidays, religious festivals, and city-wide events like film festivals). Weekends (Thursday–Saturday in Egypt) see higher nightly rates for short stays. Summer (June–August) tends to offer better hotel deals due to extreme heat reducing international visitor numbers, but domestic travel and local demand during school holidays can still push prices up. Ramadan can create mixed effects: restaurants adjust hours and some businesses run specials, while some hotels offer Ramadan packages that may be good value. Booking 4–8 weeks in advance is advisable during high season or around event dates.
