Fall
Late spring through early fall (AprilโOctober) โ pleasant weather, outdoor festivals, peak dining and shopping activity.
Winter (NovemberโMarch excluding holiday weeks) โ lowest hotel rates and quieter streets except around Thanksgiving and the December holidays.
MarchโMay: Temperatures rise from cool to mild. Trees and nearby parks start to bloom; ideal for farmers markets and riverside walks.
A weekly farmers market in downtown White Plains showcasing local produce, baked goods, and artisanal products.
Countywide dining promotion that includes many White Plains restaurants; typically held in winter and sometimes a summer edition.
A series of weekend concerts, movie nights, and pop-up festivals that activate the downtown/City Center area in summer.
Annual late-November/December holiday celebrations in downtown White Plains featuring tree lighting, performances, and seasonal markets.
Expect four distinct seasons. Pack layers for spring and fall. Summer is warm and humid โ light breathable clothing, sunscreen, and water are essential. Winter brings cold, potential snow and ice โ a warm coat, waterproof boots, and traction-friendly footwear are recommended. Check local forecasts before travel and allow extra time for Metro-North and road travel during snow or heavy rain.
White Plains hotel and dining prices vary with the commuter and event calendar more than with tourism peaks. Weekday business travel (MonโThu) often pushes rates up for midweek corporate stays; weekends can be cheaper except around local events, holidays, and when NYC overflow occurs (e.g., major NYC conferences or sporting events). Hotel prices rise during spring and fall when weather is pleasant and during major countywide events (Restaurant Week, holiday season). Expect higher room rates near the downtown/City Center area and lower rates in suburban neighborhoods. Advance booking (2โ4 weeks) and checking for corporate or AAA deals yields the best rates. Dining prices follow general NYC-adjacent patterns: downtown and hotel restaurants are pricier; smaller neighborhood eateries and ethnic spots offer better value.

Well-connected by Metro-North rail, local buses, and regional airports; downtown is walkable and compact.
Base yourself downtown (near City Center/Whole Foods area or the Metro-North station) for maximum walkability, easy transit access, and the widest selection of restaurants and hotels. Use Metro-North day passes if planning multiple round trips to NYC. For day trips, rent a car or use rideshares to explore scenic spots in Westchester and along the Hudson River.
