Seasonal guide to help you plan the perfect trip to in Greenwich
Fall
Summer
Winter
March–May: Cool-to-warm transition, flowers and early outdoor activities. March can still be chilly; by May temperatures are comfortable for walking and outdoor dining.
Typically held in Spring (often May): a small but notable film festival that showcases independent films and brings filmmakers to town.
Early July: Town fireworks and celebrations centered around Greenwich Point and town green areas. Popular with families and visitors.
Year-round with headline exhibitions often scheduled in Spring and Fall: Bruce Museum hosts rotating art, science, and natural history exhibits that attract regional visitors.
Farmers markets and outdoor concerts run primarily May–September across neighborhoods like Riverside and Old Greenwich.
Late November–December: Seasonal lights, special shopping hours, and community events along Greenwich Avenue and surrounding areas.
Greenwich experiences four distinct seasons. Expect chilly, changeable weather in Spring; hot, humid Summers; vivid Fall foliage with cool nights; and cold Winters with occasional snow. Bring layers year-round and waterproof footwear in wet months; for beach and boating plans, include sun protection and a light windbreaker for evenings.
Greenwich is an affluent, primarily residential town with higher-than-average hotel and dining prices compared with other Connecticut towns. Prices spike during the Summer (beach season, holiday weekends) and around major events; weekend rates, especially Friday–Sunday, are typically higher. Proximity to NYC keeps demand strong year-round, with business and weekend visitors driving weekday rates. Budget options (budget hotels and B&Bs) are limited within Greenwich proper but more available in nearby Stamford and Norwalk. Advance booking and mid-week stays lower costs; offseason (Winter, excluding holiday weekends) offers the best value.
