We stayed for one night, without breakfast. The room on the 5th floor facing the street was quiet, though on the small side. The bathroom was basic—everything looked just like in the photos. The beds are small; they’re not standard queen-size beds.

Fall
Summer (June–August) and the December holiday period (mid-December to New Year’s) see the heaviest crowds and highest prices.
Late Winter (January–February, outside Restaurant Week and holiday sales) and early March often offer the lowest hotel rates and fewer tourists, though weather can be cold and some outdoor attractions are limited.
March–May: temperatures warm from chilly to pleasantly mild; trees and parks bloom and outdoor dining ramps up. Easter, cherry blossoms in Brooklyn and Central Park, and many festivals begin.
Late November — a major, historic parade that draws huge crowds along the Thanksgiving Day route and TV audiences worldwide.
December 31 — iconic ball drop and celebrations; extreme crowding and restricted access areas requiring early arrival and planning.
April — film festival with premieres, panels and neighborhood screenings hosted across Manhattan.
June — one of the world’s largest Pride celebrations with a parade, parties and cultural programming across Manhattan.
Late August–early September — Grand Slam tournament in Flushing Meadows draws international visitors and celebrities.
Early November — one of the world’s premier marathons winding through all five boroughs; massive spectator interest.
February and September — global fashion industry events with shows, presentations and celebrity sightings.
Late November–December — seasonal markets across the city and the famous Rockefeller Center tree light ceremony draw visitors.
Layering is essential year-round: lightweight waterproofs and a light sweater for Spring/Fall; breathable fabrics and sun protection for Summer; heavy insulated coat, hat, gloves and warm boots for Winter. Check weather and transit alerts before heading out — severe weather (nor’easters in winter, heat waves and thunderstorms in summer) can disrupt plans. Bring comfortable, broken-in walking shoes and a small umbrella.
Hotel prices in New York City vary strongly by season, day of week, neighborhood and special events. High demand periods — Summer (Jun–Aug), Thanksgiving weekend, the week of Christmas–New Year’s, and major events (UN General Assembly in September, Fashion Weeks, NYC Marathon) — push average nightly rates and restaurant cover charges up significantly. Weekends in Manhattan often cost more than weekdays for leisure travelers, but business-driven demand can raise midweek rates in late September and October. Neighborhoods: Midtown and Times Square command the highest nightly rates; SoHo, Tribeca and Chelsea are premium too. Brooklyn (Williamsburg, DUMBO), Long Island City (Queens) and parts of Upper Manhattan offer substantially better value while remaining well-connected. Short-term rentals and boutique hotels can save money if booked early. Use price alerts, book 45–90 days ahead for peak periods, consider weekday stays for weekend events, and check for conference schedules and the UNGA in September to avoid surprise surges.
Insider-råd der hjælper dig med at få mest ud af dit besøg
Extensive public transit (MTA subways and buses), taxis and rideshares, major airports (JFK, LGA, EWR), and good walking/biking options. Traffic can be heavy — in Manhattan walking or subway often beats driving.
Buy a 7-day unlimited MetroCard or use OMNY contactless for multi-day stays; take the free Staten Island Ferry for excellent skyline views; plan extra travel time for traffic and subway delays.
