Loved staying at SCP, it was an absolute treat for all the senses !! The property, the room, the restaurant, the nearby trails and the morning swim in the secluded beach ❤️
This is a great stay for families with animal loving kids! My kids really bonded with the llamas on property. Spent hours with them just hanging out! The llamas are really good with and used to kids. We also fed the chickens each morning. All the flowers and gardens on property are gorgeous! As far as our room, we booked a deluxe king suite which accommodated a family of four very comfortably. With a living room featuring a Murphy bed and a separate bedroom with a king bed for us.

Seasonal guide to help you plan the perfect trip to in Little River
Summer
Summer (June–August) and holiday weekends
Late Fall and Winter (October–February, excluding holiday weeks)
March - May: Cool to mild days (50s–60s°F / ~10–20°C), wildflowers and new greenery, fewer tourists than summer. Some rainy days early in the season.
An annual film festival drawing filmmakers and cinephiles to Mendocino and nearby villages, typically in late spring.
A summer music festival featuring orchestral and chamber concerts on the Mendocino Headlands and nearby venues.
Gray whales migrate along the Northern California coast; local operators and headlands offer good vantage points in the winter–spring run and sightings in spring and fall.
Fourth of July, local farmers' markets, arts walks and occasional lighthouse events at Point Cabrillo.
Little River has a coastal marine climate. Expect cool breezes, morning/evening fog in late spring and summer, and wet storms in winter. Dress in layers: a warm base layer, insulating mid-layer, and a waterproof/windproof outer layer. Bring sturdy shoes for muddy trails, sun protection for clear afternoons, and check tide tables before exploring rocky shorelines.
Little River is a small coastal village where lodging inventory is limited and dominated by B&Bs, inns, vacation rentals, and a handful of small hotels. Prices spike during summer (June–August), holiday weekends, and during Mendocino-area festivals (especially the Mendocino Music Festival and Mendocino Film Festival). Weekends are more expensive than weekdays. Winter (December–February) and late fall (October–November) are typically the most budget-friendly times, though storms and holiday periods can still push rates up. Book 2–4 months in advance for summer and festival dates; last-minute deals may appear in the off-season.
Insider advice to help you make the most of your visit
Car travel is the easiest and most flexible way to reach and get around Little River; public transit is limited.
Book lodging and any specialty tours (whale-watching boats, guided kayak trips, or lighthouse tours) well in advance for summer and festival weekends. For the clearest coastal views, plan morning drives inland nearby (to escape the marine layer) or visit mid to late afternoon when fog often burns off; for dramatic scenery and fewer crowds, consider a winter storm-watching day with a cozy inn reservation.
