Sama Camp is run by a family of brothers who definitely were accommodating and wanted to make every guest have an enjoyable experience. They were very clear with their instructions for arriving at the camp, provided great package options for different activities, and were very personable. Wadi Rum is such an interesting area, and we really enjoyed the jeep tours at night and during the day. At night, we did the stargazing tour and visited a Bedouin family for some tea and to see a camel being milked. During the 4-hour day tour, we got to see prehistoric carvings, climb up different rock formations, and got treated to more tea! Staying in a bubble tent was a great experience overall!
It was one of the most breathtaking moments in our lives. We stayed in a comfortable bubble camp. The room has everything you need: comfortable beds with white bedding, private bathroom with cold and hot water, conditioner, an electric kettle and a refrigerator and even Wi-Fi! We could not believe it is possible in the desert. Picturesque views just from your window! Friendly staff and especially Saif, the owner, who arranged fantastic Jeep tour to the desert and night tour. In the camp you can also try authentic Bedouin cuisine! It is simple, but extremely delicious.

Seasonal guide to help you plan the perfect trip to in Wadi Rum
Fall
Spring & Fall (mild, sunny weather and peak outdoor activity)
Winter (lower rates, fewer visitors)
March–May. Temperatures are comfortably warm (daytime 20–28°C / 68–82°F). Sea temperatures are improving for snorkeling and diving later in the season.
Usually staged in Spring (April–May). A local cultural festival celebrating Jordanian and Red Sea coastal crafts, music, dance, and food.
May 25 (national holiday). Across Jordan, including Aqaba, expect patriotic events, smaller local parades, and public celebrations—useful time to experience national culture but expect some closures and higher local demand for services.
May–October. Not a single festival but a seasonal peak of diving, snorkeling and boat activities when operators run the most daily trips and marine life sightings are abundant.
Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a sun hat and light layers. For desert trips, include a light jacket for cooler nights (Spring/Fall) or a warmer layer in Winter. Stay hydrated in Summer and avoid strenuous midday outdoor activities; check local forecasts for rare rain or winds in late Fall/Winter.
Hotel and activity prices in Aqaba vary with weather-driven tourism and local/national events. The mild shoulder seasons (Spring and Fall) are the busiest: demand for outdoor activities, diving, and excursions pushes rates up. Summer brings steady demand for beach resorts and diving, but some mid-range hotels may offer deals to offset the extreme heat; domestic tourists during school holidays can still raise prices. Winter is the most value-friendly time: cooler weather and occasional rain reduce international visitor numbers, so many hotels and diving operators discount rates, except around Jordanian national holidays when short spikes can occur. Special events (festivals, national holidays like Independence Day) cause short-term price jumps. Book divers and popular boat trips in advance in Spring/Fall and during holiday weekends to avoid sold-out slots.
Insider advice to help you make the most of your visit
Aqaba is served by King Hussein International Airport (AQJ) with connections to Amman and seasonal international flights; good road connections via the Desert Highway and regular bus services. Taxis and car rentals are widely available.
Combine a stay in Aqaba with day trips to Wadi Rum and Petra; book certified diving operators in advance for popular reefs, bring a reef-safe sunscreen, and plan major outdoor excursions for early morning or late afternoon to avoid midday heat.
